Why Wax?
Waxing removes hair from the root, weakening the follicle over time. With consistent waxing every 4-6 weeks and proper at-home care, hair grows back finer, slower, and with less discomfort. Most clients notice no regrowth for about 2 weeks.
Benefits of Waxing:
• Slower, finer hair growth
• Can minimize ingrown hairs
• Longer-lasting results compared to shaving
• No razor bumps
How Should I Prepare for My Wax?
Let it grow:
Hair should be about ¼ inch long (roughly the length of a grain of rice) — usually about 2–3 weeks of growth after shaving.
Exfoliate gently:
The day before your appointment, lightly exfoliate the area to help remove dead skin and prevent ingrown hairs. Avoid exfoliating the day of your wax.
Keep skin hydrated:
Moisturize daily leading up to your appointment, but skip heavy lotions or oils on the day of your wax.
Skip the caffeine and alcohol:
They can make your skin more sensitive, so try to avoid them for a few hours before your appointment.
Wear comfy clothes:
Loose-fitting clothing is best to avoid irritation post-wax — especially for body or Brazilian waxing.
Take a deep breath:
It’s totally normal to feel nervous! I’ll guide you through everything, and we’ll go at a pace that feels good for you.
What Should I Expect After My First Wax?
It takes 2-3 waxes every 4-5 weeks (with no shaving in between) to achieve a completely clean wax. Stray hairs are normal at first due to different growth cycles. For the best results, let your hair grow as long as possible (3-4 weeks is ideal!) before your first appointment.
Can I Wax While on Medication?
Certain medications can make skin more sensitive to waxing. Avoid waxing if you are using or recently used:
• Tretinoin, Retin A, Retinol
• Differin, Isotretinoin, Accutane
Discontinue topical medications 7 days before your appointment. Avoid waxing if you are currently on Accutane or for 6 months after stopping it.
Can I Wax While on My Period?
Absolutely, but you may be a tad more sensitive. If getting a Brazilian during your period, please wear a tampon or menstrual cup.
Can I Wax While Pregnant?
Absolutely! Waxing is safe during pregnancy, though sensitivity may be a little more heightened. I’ll ensure you’re comfortable throughout your service. If unsure, consult with your physician.
Does My Size Affect the Cost of Waxing?
Not at all! All shapes and sizes are treated equally at Waxology.
Do You Wax Men?
I welcome all genders but currently offer Brazilian and bikini services only for those with female anatomy. Check my service list for more options!
